Cordial welcome to our new Church organ in Tainan

In this week our new organ pipe instrument is being installed at the "South Gate Presbyterian Church" in Tainan /South of Taiwan. Due to the relatively great size of the room involved, we are approaching this situation uniquely and starting out planning the organ from the inside and working our way out.
The reason being: to realise the technical and tonal demands of the organ and being able to design and build a legitimate instrument in which all of these demands have been carefully reviewed and executed.   Apart from the
size of the room, the wonderful and  good acoustics: the room is perfect for a pipe organ and it  produce a very lovely tone colour. In order to give the organ the foundation and colour it needs, the room was carefully analysed again and the scales designed based on our results after visit the Church - Building in March and June 2007.
An organ, being perhaps the most expensive piece of equipment in a worship space, should fit in and contribute to the architectural beauty of it’s new home. An organ is an extremely important liturgical element and is also capable of being totally independent musical instrument, apart from it’s liturgical obligations. For these reasons, the arrangement of our instruments, including the building style and the arrangement of the pipes are built according to the space and acoustical conditions of the room, thereby creating a perfect result.

The current work on our new organ in Taiwan:

To the end: The group picture with Mr. and Mrs. Huang. All were plaesed about the successful concert and thanked with long appluse.

Today the church was decorated festively for the wedding. The organ will not play, because the consecration of the organ is  tomorrow.

The main tuning was our work today. Now everything is finished and the musical 3rd Advent week-end can come. We are glad and are grateful that everything has worked very well.

In reminding of the visit before order assignment in 2007:

Priest Huang and his delegation in our workshop in 2007. What was demanded at that time now is visible since today here in the church and is above all audible.

Now many dispatch boxes are removed and everything is cleared up again.

Then we went back by the pedestrian area to Tainan.

Today we have carried out the main tuning. In the afternoon was the attempt for the tomorrow's wedding. Thus we went to a typical Taiwanese restaurant. There we had eaten a very fine noodle soup and small sausage.

At the end of the teaching unit Mrs. Lin herself played the organ.

The interest in our work was very hight!

Among the students was also an organ student from Malaysia. She played us to all very much capably.

The tuning work well go on. Till tomorrow we will have finished out the main work.

Back in our church. Wolfgang OBM Brommer gives to Andreas Reinbold the last pipe. Therefore all pipes are inserted from 14 o'clock local time in the organ.

Outdoors before the church:

It is difficult for us to come to prechristmassy mood with this temperatures (today 25.4 ° Cel plus).

Our Andreas was very curious and discovered installation parts which we also use.

The organ from the workshop Wilson came with American missionaries end of 19. Jhdts to Taiwan.
Now the organ belongs to the world-famous museum CHI-MEI and has been put up as a loan in the church here.

Interesting was for us to see and to examine how the old materials have stood the climatic conditions in Taiwan more than 100 years.

We visit another church with the oldest organ of Taiwan.

Almost as usual vacation: The sun purely with palms …

Then we went to another church. On the way there we saw our lunch: Peking duck.

Wolfgang Brommer plays the organ.

Here the church as a panoramic picture - please click on the picture to increase.

The first prospectus pipes are inserted. Today the tuning work begin.

The pipes are prepared for the installation and from Monday we begin with the tuning work.

The electrical system is installed and everything functions perfectly. Now the console stands in the middle at the altar level.

In spite of Sunday we work at our organ at the electrical system. Many parishioners visited us and marvelled at at our work.

Sunday, 7th of December, 2008:Blue sky everywhere. We are on the way to the service at 9 o'clock.

Both organ towers stand and tomorrow the works to the other installation of the organ parts go on.

Then we were invited by the directors of the church choir to drink good Taiwan Beer still together. We are quite tired, however, thankfully for the nice evening.

We were invited to the end of the day to food with the parishioners. Always in the first Saturday evening in the month everybody brings something to food. Thus we could take different Taiwanese lusciousness to ourselves.

Since today in the church is put up the first fir-tree. It is no fir from the Black Forest its a local pine kind.

While we will work in the church outdoors before the church young people diligently chanted and made music. This is usual here in the Advent time. The pleasant temperatures admit this.

The C and Cis tower is built up. Now Andreas Reinbold screws the roofs.

The side parts stand and the frontage is appropriated.

We have 4 other coassistants to the hand to build the big case parts on.

Both windchests lie at 9.32 o'clock in the morning. The loops are inserted and the pipe-floors are screwed on.

Saturday 12/6/2008 - St. Nicholas' Day:

The works can go on. Today everybody is glad about the "present" and observes how our organ is built up.

Friday evening: Both cases are built up. We are very glad that today everything has worked without problems. We delight about tomorrow and the other works here.

We started immediately with the construction of our organ.

After done work: Our coassistants from Taiwan. It was the first organ for them which they have unloaded. Completely they had been surprised at the many individual parts of our organ.

The "office team" is glad and observed about our activities from sure distance.

Many parts could be driven comfortably upwards: Here comes the Subbass-pipes with the lift.

First we have temporary stored all boxes and organ parts at the entry area of the church building before these were carried about the stair or lift to the 3rd floor.

We must help everybody to carry the really heavy boxes from hand. Thanks to to our strong assistants.

Also Mr. Tai helps diligently. He is obviously glad about it.

Andreas Reinbold coordinates the unloading.

The Taiwanese assistants helps us to carry the play table carefully by hand in the 3rd floor.

We are grateful and glad: All organ pieces have got over the transport in the container without damage. The first stack piece will unload. Pastor Huang and family Tai are glad with us.

Completely curious Heinz Jäger & Wolfgang Brommer opens the container: How will it look inside?

Friday, the 12/5/2008:
With sunshine and 22 ° Cel (plus!): Our container is comming. Now it can go on!

On the way home of the dinner the big cross at the top of the church tower showed us the way back to our hotel (in the picture in the middle over the street).
Now we prepare for Friday, 5.12. - shortly before St. Nicholas' Day the "present" of the municipality comes to the municipality: Our organ.

The today's dinner stood in recollection of our assemblies in Korea:
We visited a Korean restaurant and enjoyed the freshly prepared lusciousness.

In the afternoon the first parts of the scaffolding came in the church. The electrician comes Friday morning and now thus the container can be driven on the 5.12 before the church.

Thursday, the 12/4/2008: The day of the preparation.
The organ is tuned by 4 doorways of the altar wall. Behind the big cross one can reach the 2 organ towers. In the inside one can climb up to tune the organ.

The first day goes to end. We leave the church, which is light up with many various lights.

Family Tai have inviated us to a delicious dinner with many specialities. Andreas tried everything and it tasted very good to us all.

In the church we were welcomed of Pastor Huang (right).
We went directly into the church room and Mr. Tai explained us which is prepared for us.

We drove over the roadway directly to Tainan. Tainan is the old capital of Taiwan.

During our cruise Andreas makes lots of photographs.

We left the airport and drove with the minibus from the parish to Tainan.

At the International Airport of Kaoshiung (South Taiwan) family Tai received us friendly.
